Following the recent visit to Capitol Hill during the Afterschool for All Challenge at the National Afterschool Association Convention (DEAN) is proud to announce its full support of a landmark bipartisan bill championed by Congresswoman Sarah McBride. The federal legislation aims to expand biotechnology education for secondary school students across the nation. While "secondary" refers to the critical middle and high school years, DEAN is advocating to ensure this investment reaches students in their communities and through high-impact Out-of-School time (OST) programs.
“Out-of-school time (OST) STEM programs play a vital role in sparking curiosity and building real-world skills through hands-on, inquiry-based learning, says Regina Sidney-Brown, MS, Director of DEAN. "By engaging youth in activities such as coding, robotics, and emerging fields like biotechnology, these programs complement classroom instruction and open doors to high-demand career pathways. We strongly support this bipartisan bill to expand biotechnology education for secondary school students including in informal learning environments".
